Crown Mountain Park Receives Colorado Park’s & Recreation Award for Facility Design

In 2018, the Crown Mountain Park and Recreation District (CMPRD) board and staff had a vision to create a diverse, progressive bike complex at Crown Mountain Park largely underutilized western side that would serve riders of all ages and abilities. In June, the CMPRD officially cut the ribbon on the Crown Mountain Bike Park, a 3-acre, multi-faceted biking mecca that quickly attracted local riders as well as visitors. The Colorado Parks and Recreation Association announced that Crown Mountain Bike Park has won its coveted Columbine Award for Design, recognizing innovative park and rec facility projects.

“We are so stoked that CPRA has recognized Crown Mountain Bike Park with this award,” said Nate Grinzinger, Crown Mountain’s park and recreation manager and bike park director. “We imagined the kid who doesn’t have a parent or coach to teach them the fundamentals, and then built a bike park using thoughtfully designed features and progressions. I expect a future X-Games athlete will come from our park.”
